Last Friday {12th March} and Saturday (13th) Gary Grant and Dusty Gedge provided 10 delegates with a two day course on ecosystem services and living roofs and walls. The training days are part of a range of training that RESET is providing over the coming year.
The course dealt with how Future cities need to embraced, ecosystem services and green infrastructure to ensure that they become resilient and adapt to climate change.
There were several elements to the course
- Future Cities – building system services – ecosystem services
- Green Infrastructure – what is it and how can it be applied
- Sustainable Urban Drainage
- Living roofs and walls
The two day course also included a tour of Greenwich Peninsula, to look at how green roof infrastructure has been implemented on in the developments there and how it is envisage to be implemented in the future.
All the delegates partook of workshop on the final day where they had a chance to put into practice what they had learned. This took the form of an appraisal of current and proposed green infrastructure on the Peninsula and a chance for the delegates to redesign the current schemes to enhance the schemes in terms of providing greater ecosystem services.
