It can be found at ground level in varied dry habitats such as short grassland, heaths, dunes and cliffs. This is important as they provide a good nectar source over a long period for a range of native bees, including Wool-carder, Red mason and Honey Bees. White-tailed, Common carder, Red-tailed and Buff-tailed Bumblebees are also regular visitors to collect nectar and polen from the flowers.
