Flax (Linaceae) can be found on green roofs throughout the northern temperate world. The celebrated annual green roof training event in Essex will take place this year on 23rd July. The course is for anyone interested in contracting, installing and building green roofs. Although the focus will be on the small scale – sheds, extensions, outhouses, outdoor classrooms etc, it will also provide enough practical and in depth knowledge [...] A bright yellow plant of dry pastures, grassy slopes and well-drained calcareous soils the Bulbous buttercup (Ranunculus bulbosus) is well suited to extensive green roofs of a reasonable depth -greater than 100mm). This small eco-shed is in a school in Stockport. The inspiration for the roof was Jane Sebire, a photographer who takes pictures for various gardening and landscape magazines. Her son goes to the school in question.A lovely project and we defer to Jane’s description of the shed and it’s impact, not ours. On 23rd October we will be running a green roof training course at the Wat Tyler Centre, Pitsea, Essex. |
