Whilst [...] Kidney Vetch (Anthyllis vulneraria) is a UK native wildflower of chalk, grasslands, shingle banks, cliffs and Junes. It is very common on green roofs in Switzerland and can sometimes tend to dominate an extensive green roofs. However it’s profuse yellow flower heads are a real magnet for bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Last weekend we completed our fourth 2 day green roof workshop for the Permaculture Trust in Brighton. Tue turn out was good with over 20 delegates. The delegate,s included garden designers, landscaping contractors, students and people who just have an interest. We always highlight in Brighton the use of green roofs for Brighton’s Biodiversity Action [...] Selfheal (Prunella vulgaris) is a delightful plant. It tends to grow quite short on green roofs, and brown roofs that have been designed for biodiversity. Some sedum blanket growers also include it in their products in seed form. |
